The Lectros Electro Osmotic System is not a masonry capillary coating or blocker, but a proven active method of reversing the moisture’s
natural electric potential, which originates when water rises in a masonry wall.
Electro-Osmosis, like gravity, has been around since the "Big Bang" however the "principle" was not discovered until the 18th century by the German physicist
Reuss. These days, this scientific principle is used by Lectros to provide an outstanding solution to the problem of rising damp. By tackling rising damp
right at the root of the problem, the Lectros system is consistently successful.
How does the Lectros system work?

Through a series of platinized titanium anodes installed in the masonry about a
metre apart, a very small, regulated, and perfectly safe electrical charge is introduced into the
wall just above ground level, (mA range), via a small but sophisticated power control unit.
Immediately the surrounding moisture molecules become positively charged and the “free” moisture
molecules are repelled from the positive anode and attracted to the negative cathode buried in
the ground, (just as the "poles" of magnets repel or attract each other). As the moisture content
reduces so does the ability to transfer the charge from the anode to the cathode, The resistance,
(ohms), increases and the, (mA range), current reduces, and whilst the volts being discharged
are restricted their value correspondingly increases. This current repels the rising moisture
molecules and dissolved salts down the walls and harmlessly back into the ground.

Why Lectros? - The "Honest" System!

The small, but sophisticated, Lectros Power Control Unit constantly displays the electrical charge carried through the wall by the
moisture and as the moisture content reduces the current will be seen to reduce and the unused voltage will be seen to increase.

Replastering is normally restricted to a small “patching” exercise for aesthetic values with removal of existing plaster limited to
areas exhibiting delamination – NO COVER-UP!
There is NO requirement for the application of a “poultice” to address the presence of hygroscopic salts as they are not an issue with the
Lectros System as the combined principles of electro-osmosis and electro-kenesis naturally desalinates the masonry
An electro osmotic system is the only remedial damp course that will dry below the level of installation avoiding timber floor removal and replacement.
Why NOT Lectros?
The Lectros System is considered by many “rising damp” contractors as a “commercially unacceptable” system. Many will comment that the
anodes are too expensive compared to most commercially available chemical damp-course fluids.
However, they also will fail to tell you that, the Lectros System is comparatively far quicker to install with minimal drilling, debris, dust or damage to
your internal or external masonry finishes, there are no odours, and, the Lectros system offers, observably, the fastest results.
You will also not be advised that any chemical or membrane remedial damp-course should be installed below any suspended timber floor components to protect
any timbers being supported by wet masonry, (requiring floor removal and replacement).
They will also fail to tell you that they will not only lose additional sales income from the removal and replacement of existing plaster, (often equal to
or more than the damp-course installation), but also, if recommended, lose sales income from the application and removal of any temporary poultice.
Another major “ethical” problem also arises through the Lectros Power Control Unit constantly displaying the electrical charge carried through the wall by
the moisture. When the system is first turned on the voltage and current figures displayed will give a good indication of the moisture content within the
wall and will illustrate whether the masonry has rising damp or not. These figures will either confirm or contradict their diagnosis!

“rising damp”!
